ABOUT US
When most dog trainers insist on command-based and overly-complex training methods, I prefer to base my training around mindful, balanced, energy-based, and behavioral mannerisms instead. I’m a firm believer in trying to understand your dog versus getting them to understand you. Our dogs are constantly communicating with us, but most of the time we don’t know what to look for. Of the limited things we may understand, there is a variety of other signals within that tail wag. Throughout my process, I will train your dog to trust you to make the tough decisions, but also guide your dog to learn how to make good decisions on its own. I will also teach you how to strengthen your skills and confidence with your dog to leave you with a stronger understanding of each other.
My methods cannot be entirely encompassed in the terms of ‘positive reinforcement training’ or ‘LIMA’ but they do draw from all of the same positive foundations. As well as on deeper levels and more at natural interpretation towards your dog. In a world where they cannot communicate, it’s up to us to show them that we are listening and we want to lead them. Some dogs need more ‘stern’ corrections (they are pushy or headstrong), while others thrive on ‘yes’ and ‘good boy’ (submissive and secure), that is what I determine when I begin a consultation.
Once I have formed a game plan, I will write down my steps, share them with you, and begin my process with your pup. Some of my approaches may take time, and it’s up to you as a paw parent to stay committed to the process. But I’m confident in my ability to show the progress that you will join me in watching your dog transform for the better. I will have a consult, talk schedule, meet your dog, and then talk strategy and pricing.

WHAT TO EXPECT
I will perform a $20 consult to create a training plan with you and your dog. This will include a more detailed training schedule and more accurate pricing, and we will discuss certain things we want to focus training on.
I will require you to commit the next two to four weeks to training your dog, consistency is key! Whether that means I pick your dog up every day from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm whatever the time frame happens to be, we will come up with a plan.
DURING THE CONSULT WE WILL DISCUSS A TRAINING PLAN THAT CAN DIFFER FROM THE PLAN BELOW, IT IS ALL CUSTOMIZABLE TO YOU AND YOUR DOGS NEEDS.
During my training, I will be using a TRANSITIONAL SLIP LEASH as it’s my preferred tool and the one I get the best results from. If you don’t have one they can be found on Amazon for around $10-$20. I use K9 Lifeline transitional slip leashes, they cost $40 but are well worth it. If you use other tools for walking and such that you prefer for your dog we can discuss them in the consult.
INITIAL TRAINING
The beginning of my training requires up to two weeks of myself handling and building a relationship with your dog (outside of your home) and slowly heightening the tasks we take on, which can make this introductory process take up to four weeks.
If you prefer to be present during all training we can do that as well, I just recommend I work the first couple of sessions one on one for most dogs
After I have earned your dog's trust and we are able to enhance the training, I will invite the client and others in the household to come along for training sessions and integrate training into the home. This takes about a week or two.
BRIDGE TRAINING
I will determine how many times a week your dog will need ‘refresher sessions’ after we integrate the training into the household as well. This could be once a week or five days a week, depending on your dog.
This training process should take around an additional two weeks depending on the frequency and your dogs needs.
Once the initial training process is over, and your dog has grown confident in the home and with you, I will require that you stick to my training methods, and continue to implicate them so that your dog doesn’t digress in its growth. This will be ensured by either I come by and see how the dog is doing in-home and check up on how things are going, as well as a two-week follow-up after the initial checkpoint.
ADDITIONAL TRAINING INFORMATION
Training sessions generally last 30 minutes to 2 hours, it depends on the work we’re doing and your dog's tolerance and needs
I recommend scheduling two to three training sessions per week, if not more, depending on your dog and your schedule
The $200 deposit covers the first stage of training, which generally lasts a week to two weeks. The final price will be added to this fee. Please expect to be paying around $400 for the total of INITIAL TRAINING (the deposit is included in this total) and then an additional $200 for BRIDGE TRAINING. Any additional training will fall under the $20/hour mark.
BOARDING AND DAYCARE
I work out of my two-story home in Pullman and if you decide to pay for your dog to stay with me, I have a quiet ‘kennel room’ with a sound machine and essential oil diffuser to help your dog to be calm in the crate. If you’re interested in boarding, I can email you a form to fill out and to have you ready to drop off your dog and all of its things! I have a large yard that I will use for simple training or socials (this is dependent on how your dog gets along with other dogs as well as the size of your dog (I have a Husky puppy and a calm Great Pyrenees), and I will also take your dog on walks in order to get the daily exercise requirement outside of training sessions. I will be in contact with you every day, and your wish is my command! Since I want you to have full confidence in your pooch's safety while staying with me, I can offer a tour of my boarding area as well as a meet and greet with my dogs if you’d like (if interacting with my dogs is something I deem wise and safe for your dog).
Depending on what kind of training your dog needs, I may need at least fourteen days to work with them to ensure I have built a bond of trust with them and can begin the levels of training.
ABOUT KATIE
Patience Over Pressure
I have three years of dog training experience through a boarding, daycare, and training facility in Boise. I have drawn a lot of my knowledge from their methods, but also adapted my own methods as every dog and every trainer is different. This makes it difficult to try and wrap up my ideology into strict key points. On top of that, I have around a year and a half of serious reactivity training, but it’s such an umbrella term that I’ve been working with different types of it for the years I’ve been training. I don’t have any certifications because I find my time is better spent in the field versus taking courses. Still, I do want to attend more courses once I’m established financially (I moved to Pullman from Boise beginning of this year). I am also working towards a Dog Behaviorist certification as well, as that’s the base of most of my methods. I have a 2-year-old Great Pyrenees male and a nine-week-old male Alusky (Alaskan Malamute/Husky mix) and work out of my two-story home in Pullman for the time being. As I can put aside more money from training, I can buy the tools I need to help your pooch succeed, without having to make you search for them yourself! If you have any further questions please feel free to reach out!
